Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) canceling conference due to COVID-19
The conference gathering of 1,650 attendees, scheduled for March 12-14 in Denver, is canceled as a response to COVID-19 as it spreads across the U.S. WiCyS is the only national nonprofit membership organization dedicated to bringing together women in cybersecurity together from academia, research and industry to share knowledge, experience, networking and mentoring.
DENVER, March 7, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) is canceling its conference in response to the growing concern of the spread of COVID-19.
The conference gathering of 1,650 attendees, scheduled for March 12-14 in Denver, is canceled as a response to COVID-19 as it spreads across the U.S. WiCyS is the only national nonprofit membership organization dedicated to bringing together women in cybersecurity together from academia, research and industry to share knowledge, experience, networking and mentoring.
"As the spread of COVID-19 has increased in the U.S., we had no choice but to cancel WiCyS 2020. While this was an extremely hard decision for us, the well-being of our community takes precedence over our conference mission," said WiCyS chair of the board, Janell Straach. "We want to especially thank everyone who has offered support to our team during the past week."
Any participants planning to travel to the conference should cancel all plans. The WiCyS registration team will cancel all lodging reservations and request the hotel refund the one-night room and tax charged to any participant credit cards. Registration refund options will be announced in the coming weeks.
This would have been the seventh event. Organizers are working on alternative solutions to allow participants to still gather and learn, network and collaborate. Something should be announced in the next two weeks.
