LOS ANGELES, April 11, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Wonder Science® enters the US market with the first of its kind "slow science" service, a genre which seeks to activate deep verticals of niche programming tailored to millennials. The new channel aims to stimulate fresh interest in science among viewers who typically steer clear of educational media.
Wonder Science is free with no ads across all available platforms: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, YouTube and wonderscience.com.
Episodes run from three minutes to three hours, employing a simple formula that blends mesmerizing visuals and music. The combined effect transports viewers into an alternate reality -- filled with brilliant gems, industrious ants, bizarre microorganisms, and psychedelic sound waves.
Music is fundamental to the experience of Wonder Science. The company collaborates with electronic, synth, and indie artists to create the original soundtracks accompanying many programs. Contributing musicians include KRON, Ariel Pink, Stuart Price, El Tigr3, Ethan Gold, Matt Whyte, and Füxa.
The channel trains a microscopic lens on topics in biology, physics, chemistry and mineralogy, uncovering worlds within worlds that are all around us but are normally unseen.
"Wonder Science is like an educational lava lamp," says Danielle Parsons, Wonder Science Founder. "Through observation, viewers establish a direct connection with actual science. I wanted to make enough space in each video for people's natural curiosity to kick in."
When that curiosity sparks, viewers can choose to watch narrated versions of some shows, and dig deeper into each topic on the website. College and K-12 educators have incorporated Wonder Science for use in classrooms.
The videos themselves make no demands on the viewer. The channel draws inspiration from the Slow Movement, which permeates almost every area of life -- from cooking to fashion to cinema -- and advocates a cultural shift toward slowing down.
Content is produced in-house and sourced from scientists worldwide. Wonder Science joins forces on original productions with scientists at prestigious universities including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Caltech, UCLA, and institutions abroad. Though its website, scientists and artists can submit edited and raw footage for potential inclusion on the channel.
"We're thrilled to enable academics to reach new audiences with groundbreaking science," says Parsons. "Over the long term, we are focused on building a unique repository of rare and amazing science visuals from around the world."
In partnership with leading OTT provider dotstudioPRO, Wonder Science plans to activate multiple syndication points and expand its owned-and-operated network to additional platforms by 2020.
"It is important to allow content companies to push the boundaries of engagement when delivering niche content verticals," says dotstudioPRO CEO Joe Pascual. "Our goal as Wonder Science's technology partner is to launch a highly-scalable OTT platform that addresses the needs of their content and audience."
