Dr. Akbari has a successful track record of managing medium to large technology companies, including serving as CEO of SkyBitz, where she provided an exit with strong returns for all of the company's stake holders, and prior to SkyBitz, working with operations and sales organizations of more than 1,200 employees within divisions of public companies with revenues in excess of $5 billion. Additionally, Dr. Akbari has extensive private and public company board governance and oversight experience. She currently serves on a number of private and public company board of directors including Banco Santander, S.A. and Landstar System Inc.

Dr. Akbari holds a Ph.D. with honors in particle physics from Tufts University and an MBA with distinction from Carnegie Mellon University, where she is currently a member of The Tepper School of Business Board of Advisors. In addition, Dr. Akbari was the inaugural Chair of the Johns Hopkins University Physics and Astronomy Advisory Council from 2013-2018. She is the author of more than 50 scientific and management articles in international journals, holds two patents in IoT/M2M and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences.
