worksmart Receives Grant to Launch we/grow: An Event For Female Founders to Connect Through Play and Creativity
we/grow is a unique networking event for female founders like no other! This workshop invites female founders to come play and create together through LEGO® Serious Play® methods, creative problem solving tools, and interactive play to find real time connections and opportunities to collaborate.
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- worksmart launches we/grow, a new way to network through play and creativity. Traditional networking events just don't cut it. At least not for founders who are looking to build their business through authentic connections and collaborations. That is the premise of this new workshop designed by Worksmart Founder Van Lai-DuMone.
As a female founder, Van established Worksmart, a successful consultancy bringing play and creativity into companies to strengthen teams and culture, by mobilizing creative thinking at every level of an organization. Her methods include getting people to think with their hands through LEGO® Serious Play® and teaching new problem-solving tools through creative art projects. Worksmart is founded on the fact that we are all innately creative and that play is a vital tool for learning and innovation. Van brings those facts as well as her conviction in collaboration over competition to this new offering. It's time for business owners to find partnerships that fit.
Worksmart was awarded a Health and Wellbeing grant from The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) in collaboration with the California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) to create an event for female founders to connect and build supportive relationships. The workshop will be hosted on NOVEMBER 8, 2018, at The RIVETER in Marina del Rey from 6:00pm – 8:30pm. In her award grant, Van states, 'As the number of female owned businesses grows in Los Angeles, so does the need to provide time, space, and tools for connection and collaboration.'
For this workshop, Van is teaming up with Baily Hancock, a Los Angeles based Collaboration Consultant who works with female entrepreneurs to help them gain credibility and grow their business with partnerships. Through her 1:1 consulting, group programs, podcast, and speaking gigs, Baily teaches people to collaborate with their community to achieve their goals.
Van is also bringing in the personal development expertise of Lizzie Alberga, Founder and CEO of Collective Gain, a company that offers scalable coaching solutions to companies and personalized coach-matching to founders and leaders. And to keep this all under the umbrella of supporting female founders, the event is being held at The Riveter's Marina del Rey location. The Riveter is female founded co-working space that recently expanded from Seattle to Los Angeles.
Van states, "This event is meant to teach female founders how to find aligned collaborations. In partnering with Baily Hancock, Collective Gain, and The Riveter, we are giving participants an example of the benefits and fun that can be had when you find partners that fit!"
Workshop attendees will have their notion of networking disrupted! There will be no aimless mingling or surface-level small talk. There will be no distribution of business cards or raffles. In lieu of the traditional networking methods, participants will:
- Connect on a personal and professional level
- Share not just what they do, but the impact they make
- Find potential and authentic collaborations and in real time
- Leave with an action plan rather than business cards
And this is all done through the use of creativity and play!
This event is free to the public and limited to 50 attendees.
Registration is required.
