This event with Olmos was postponed from April 8 due to a last-minute filming schedule conflict. Judson is excited to host this event on the first day of classes for the upcoming fall semester.
Mexican-American actor, director, producer, and activist Edward James Olmos will speak on campus. During his keynote and a one-on-one interview, Olmos will discuss life, business, and finding inspiration. Olmos is best known for his roles as Lieutenant Martin "Marty" Castillo in "Miami Vice" (1984–1989).
The interview with Olmos is part of the World Leaders Forum's Inspirational Series, which will be hosted by Jacqueline Ruiz, an entrepreneur, author, and Latina pilot. Ruiz will interview Olmos for an informal discussion covering a wide range of topics from life lessons, ways to make an impact in your community, and inspirational stories. "It is an honor to have a conversation with one of the prominent Hollywood figures in our community at this event. I believe that the audience will walk away inspired and ready to make a greater impact in their community," said Ruiz.
Ruiz will also include a discussion with Rick Najera, an award-winning screenwriter, actor, director, producer, sketch comedian, author, playwright, coach, and national speaker. Proceeds from this event will fund leadership, entrepreneurship, diversity, and RISE program scholarships for students at Judson University. The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Herrick Chapel on Judson's campus with general admission tickets starting at $25. VIP tickets are available for $500 and include a meet-and-greet reception prior to the event at 5:30 p.m. and purchasers receive a photo opportunity with the panelists.
