NEW YORK, Dec. 1, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Wealth-X, the world's leading provider of data and insight on the wealthy, today released Preservation and Succession: Family Wealth Transfer 2021. The latest edition of this report explores insights on generational wealth transfer based on donors' wealth tier, geographic region, source of wealth, and gender, among other characteristics.
With rising geopolitical complexity and increasingly globalized families and investments, the importance and challenges of wealth transfer require examination. The report covers a global group of wealthy individuals with more than $5 million in net worth, collectively holding more than $62 trillion in assets.
Over the next decade, almost a quarter of this population will transfer more than $18 trillion in wealth, a sum greater than China's annual GDP in 2020.

- At $10.6 trillion, North America will account for almost 60% of the cumulative wealth transferred over the next decade, followed by Europe and Asia
- On average, $27m will be passed on by each individual donor with a net worth above $5m
- Most wealth transfers taking place between now and 2030 involve individuals whose fortunes are self-made
- The vast majority – approximately 90% – of those who will be transferring wealth by 2030 are men.
