WorldLegacy's NC191 Leadership Team will complete an extreme makeover of a Girl's Matter Program Classroom at Gregory Drive Elementary School in Jacksonville, Florida. They will completely renovate an existing classroom by re-painting bookshelves and cabinets and providing twelve Fire HD 8 kids pro 8" tablets, desks, chairs, rugs, bookshelves, dry erase tables, a couch, bean bag chairs, filing cabinets, a refrigerator, and a microwave. Their intent is to have girls who are struggling with histories of abuse or failing in school, get that they matter and are loved.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C., July 5, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- WorldLegacy's NC191 Leadership Team based in Chapel Hill, NC will complete an extreme makeover at the Dolores Barr Weaver Policy Center, Girl's Matter Elementary Program classroom located at Gregory Drive Elementary School in Jacksonville, Florida. During the weekend of July 9 – 10, 2022, six individuals from around the United States will send a powerful message to the young girls who use the Girl's Matter Program, that they are valuable, loved and have a promising future. This project aligns with the team's vision of a world that is loving and responsible. This project will support girls who are experiencing a family crisis, victims of abuse or are at risk of dropping out of school. The team will partner with the local community and US retailers to paint cabinets in the room and provide twelve Fire HD 8 kids pro 8" tablets, desks, chairs, rugs, bookshelves, dry erase tables, a couch, bean bag chairs, filing cabinets, a refrigerator, and a microwave.
This WorldLegacy Leadership Team is committed to inspiring future generations of leaders by creating a beautiful space for girls to learn, heal, grow, and connect. The intention is to inspire future leaders to be connected to their families and the community. All the volunteers involved with the project will experience being part of something bigger than themselves. They will be part of an extreme makeover project generated from a vision for the world. The girls' interest in their education will translate into the academic success that leads to infinite possibilities for their lives. They will be free to dream big and reach for the stars!
This project is the culmination of WorldLegacy's three-month leadership development program. What makes this project unique is that the WorldLegacy Leadership team of six individuals completely designs the project from start to finish, cannot use any of their own money, and involves the community to be partners and complete 75% of the work. The team has a maximum of two weeks to design and prepare for the project, and the project must be completed in two days. The project needs to leave a tangible, lasting contribution to the community.
The WorldLegacy NC191 Leadership Team asks for your partnership to make this project possible. Please come and participate with us in all aspects of the work. The adventure will begin on Saturday, July 9th at 7:00 a.m. (eastern US time) both Saturday and Sunday. All work will be completed by Sunday afternoon and will culminate with a ribbon cutting ceremony beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10. The ceremony will be in-person and virtually and will celebrate and honor all donors, volunteers and leaders who gave of their time, talents, and resources to make the project a success.
