'55 Reflections of a Searching Skeptic,’ part personal narrative and part poetry, is a treasure.

Author Rich Melcher has published an inspiring collection of poetry and prose that creatively and uniquely examines the important role faith plays in shaping daily life. Peppered with personalized poetic commentary and relevant scriptures, “55 Reflections of a Searching Skeptic: Scanning the Depths of Spirituality and Mental Health” twines important lessons about spirituality, mental health, and self-enrichment with poignant moments from Melcher’s life and experiences as a Christ-follower.

“This is a conversational, journal-style, reflection-oriented, somewhat autobiographical book,” Melcher wrote in the preface to “55 Reflections of a Searching Skeptic”. “It often reads more like a conversation than a self-help, non-fiction, or textbook, and borders on a spiritual-reading book. It is meant to spark deeper thought and important conversations.”

Melcher’s book is focused on showing readers that anyone can use their creative authenticity to express their views of the world. It also examines how mental illness, specifically bipolar disorder, can be made a friend with proper medication, physical wellness, and a sound spiritual base.

“’55 Reflections of a Searching Skeptic,’ part personal narrative and part poetry, is a treasure,” Rosemary Murphy, Ph.D., wrote in the foreword to Melcher’s book. “Melcher’s journey is not finished, however. He is still overcoming the obstacles of putting to rest ‘my suffered self’ and discovering ‘the soothing voice of interior silence.’”

Ultimately, “55 Reflections of a Searching Skeptic” provides readers with a meditative exploration of the human spirit – one of the most exciting realms of the mind and heart.
