WRJ Design Yellowstone Club House Earns Cover of Homestead Magazine with Jackson Hole Interior Design Firm Praised for Curating Extraordinary Elements
Award-winning Jackson Hole-based interior design firm WRJ Design was deemed artists at sourcing history, culture and craftsmanship by Homestead for a home in Montana's private Yellowstone Club that earned the cover and a feature story in the annual magazine's 2019 issue. WRJ is specifically recognized for curating meaningful, story-filled pieces from around the world and collaborating with the architect and homeowners to create "magic" in the mountaintop house.
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo., June 18, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A rustic chic dining room from a spectacular Yellowstone Club, Montana, home with interiors by WRJ Design graces the cover of the much-anticipated 2019 Homestead magazine. The annual Jackson Hole, Wyoming, publication each year showcases the best of architecture, interiors and art from talented local firms. On the just-released edition's cover, a custom-made curved black walnut dining table mirrors the arc of the room's glass walls, at once demonstrating WRJ's attention to detail and ability to create dialogue with a home's architecture, as well as the effortless sophistication that the Jackson Hole-based interior design firm is known for.
Titled "From There to Here: the Sourcing Artistry of WRJ Design" the Homestead story deconstructs interior elements of the "spectacular 8,500-square-foot home" to illustrate how WRJ curates meaningful, story-filled pieces from around the world for homeowners. Upon entering the mountaintop Yellowstone Club home, visitors are met with 19th-century German roe deer antler mounts on the wall, inscribed with the year and location of the hunt. Beneath the mounts is a collection of German and Austrian bentwood, metal-tipped hiking canes adorned with painted metal badges, called stocknagels, that were once a way of commemorating local hikes with something unique to a town's heritage. And this is just the foyer.
"Real design is about sourcing the many layers of history, culture, craftsmanship and nature," WRJ Design's CEO and co-founder Rush Jenkins tells Homestead. "We're far more interested in bringing depth and context to the project—and creating real emotion—because that's who we are, and we seek out a clientele who will appreciate this."
Other design details from WRJ highlighted by Homestead in the exclusive Montana home range from the faux bois firewood bin and Van der Straeten handwrought bronze tumbleweed mirror over the fireplace in the living room to the 19th-century porcupine-quill box from Ceylon atop a Syrian mother-of-pearl inlaid chest in the hallway outside the master suite, along with subtle texture and tone details in fabrics from Loro Piana and pieces from Holly Hunt.
"We are more than designers, we are curators, collectors and stewards, passing on our passion to our clients, says Jenkins' fellow co-founder and WRJ COO Klaus Baer, explaining how the design team unearths treasures around the world for their clients. "We're looking to tell a story, to create real magic, because when that happens, suddenly the whole becomes greater than the sum of the parts."
The Homestead article also writes about WRJ's collaboration with architecture firm JLF Architects on the 5- bedroom timber and stone Montana house, one of several houses the firms have joined forces on, which include the Jackson Hole home selected as 2016 Home of the Year winner by Mountain Living magazine. JLF praises how the two design teams work together "toward that same uniqueness" and how "the inside informs the outside and vice versa."
WRJ Design has an upcoming book titled "Natural Elegance: Luxurious Mountain Living" coming out in fall 2019. Published by Vendome and filled with 250 pages of color photography by William Abranowicz, the coffee table book features stunning WRJ-designed homes that take inspiration from the drama of their surrounding natural Western landscapes from the Rockies to the Pacific.
