CHESAPEAKE, Va., May 28, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Author Vickie Tingwald shares her grief journey in order to encourage others suffering from loss in Finding Me: Finding Yourself When Half Of You Is Missing ($11.49, paperback, 9781662818189; $5.99, e-book, 9781662818196).
Few of us are blessed to do life alongside the same person for 50 years. Many of us, however, have experienced the loss of someone so close to us that we feel like we've lost a full half of who we are. At the end of 50 years of marriage, Tingwald was a caregiver for her husband during his seven-year battle with ALS. This experience drew them even closer together, only to rip them apart when he passed away in 2018. She encourages others that, although they may never get over their loss, they can get through it.
"I never thought I would be writing a book but felt like God was urging me to share [my] and my family's experience with a terminal illness to help others going through difficult times," said Tingwald.
Vickie Tingwald has been a widow since 2018, when her husband Gary passed away after a seven-year battle with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease). Tingwald is the mother of four and grandmother of seven. She is a retired Assembly of God US Missionary and Children's Pastor. Tingwald stays active by spending her time enjoying her family, writing, and volunteer work with the local ALS Chapter.
