Emmanuel Gbadebo Ayinla Babatunde D.PHIL (Oxon); PhD (Lon). was born in Imeko, Ogun State of Nigeria as the last of three sons in a Catholic family. He became a priest, was sent to Oxford to study Anthropology and received two PhDs. He met Kelebogile, PhD. in Nutrition, and they are married with four children. Babatunde has also written Culture, Religion, and the Self: A Critical Study of Yoruba and Benin Cultures in Change as well as Women's Rights Versus Women's Rites: A Study of Circumcision Among the Yoruba of Southwestern Nigeria.
