Yoga Ed. was originally created as a Los Angeles-based program within the Accelerated School (TAS) in South Central Los Angeles. Recognized as one of the nation’s most accomplished K-12 institutions, Yoga Ed.’s program was seen as a valuable factor in maintaining a high level of academic achievement, inspiring a nationwide response to bring more yoga programs into schools. In 2002, Yoga Ed. debuted its first public K12 training of K12 curriculum in Los Angeles, CA, prompting a nationwide and global training of teachers and expansion of Yoga Ed.’s curriculum. Growing both its national and global footprint over the next decade, in 2016 Yoga Ed. transformed into a digital leader, introducing online yoga classes and workshops that are now used by millions of children and teens across 32 countries.
“Deciding to make Yoga Ed. a digital company in 2016 has allowed us to reach a global audience, broadening our presence and growing our impact. As we strive to empower the next generation with mindfulness, movement, and social emotional learning, it’s crucial we ensure our ability to reach youth, educators and parents in diverse communities. I’m proud of the work we have done thus far and of all the new places we still plan to arrive,” said Julia Bond, Co-Founder and VP of Operations & Technology.
