FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif., Sept. 30, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Ytel, a leading CPaaS company that helps businesses engage more customers using multi-channel communications, announced its' latest achievement in digital security safeguarding - an API to build and send one time passwords (OTP) for businesses and consumers.
Digital security has become mission-critical for businesses in these modern times, with data breaches and leaked consumer information often making headlines. Consumers want to feel safe and secure with the companies they choose to do business with, and Two Factor Authentication (2FA) has quickly become the most efficient way to gain consumers' trust.
In short, OTPs are a trusted form of 2FA in that they provide an additional layer of security that a standard password can't. Unique to each user and each device used to log in, one-time passwords are a comprehensive solution to businesses' biggest headaches: account and user verification, secure transactions, login attempts, just to name a few.
Using Ytel's OTP API, businesses can quickly generate One Time Passwords, deliver them via SMS, and verify the response in real-time. This API reduces the need for customers to build a custom OTP solution via the SMS API alone and will live on the backbone of the Ytel Campaign and Conversation APIs. The OTP API will be free to use through the end of 2019.
Ytel customer, TRYP Technologies, Inc. has implemented 2FA technology into its ride-sharing application, TrypRides. The 2FA technology will protect its' drivers and riders by sending a one-time 4-digit security passcode via SMS to the rider that matches the rider to the driver to ensure they are getting into the right car.
"More and more businesses are implementing 2FA to protect themselves and their customers," said Ytel CTO, Matt Grofsky. "Communicating via text message is already commonplace, so offering an additional layer of security through this channel helps businesses remain credible with their audiences. We decided to wrap the complexity involved in creating an SMS enabled OTP flow into a single API command and help lower the bar for consumer adoption."
