zSpace, an educational solution that combines elements of VR and AR on a specialized all-in-one computer or laptop, offers a wide variety of STEM applications to supplement K12 and Career and Technical Education (CTE) curriculum. This latest application, GTAFE's Virtual Veterinary Trainer, is a powerful teaching tool offering veterinary students practical training of the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, digestive, respiratory, urinary, circulatory, lymphatic, endocrine, and nervous systems. For each system, male and female models are available. Most importantly, it allows repeated operations, solving the problem of non-repeatability and insufficient resources. In addition, VR technology makes abstract issues concrete, static objects dynamic and complex problems simplified in virtual anatomy laboratory, thus reducing the difficulties and greatly improving teaching.
Used in a classroom or lab environment, students may work individually on a zSpace Laptop or two students share a zSpace All-in-One (AIO) and work on activities together. While one student lifts, turns or takes apart virtual objects using an interactive stylus, the other student makes observations and records data. Students wear custom tracking glasses so they can all see the images floating above the screen and collaborate on the assignment. An explanation text box describes the name and function of the selected structure. The restore button can return the selected part to its original position.
