FREDERICK, Md., Oct. 11, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ZA+D, a full-service architectural firm servicing projects across 7 States with over 750,000 SF of new construction projects currently in design has announced the promotions of Hannah Weikel and Forrest Popkin to Principals. Hannah was formerly Vice President and Director of Interiors, Forrest was formerly a Senior Project Manager.
Both will continue to manage their own projects while overseeing other staff and providing mentorship. They will now have more active roles in the business decisions day to day, directing firm management. Weikel and Popkin will be integral in the long-term planning for the firm, both in seeing how to meet the current mission of the company while pursing ways to adapt and grow the portfolio of projects.
Weikel, who has been with the firm since 2003, graduated from Longwood University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Interior Architecture. She became a member of American Society of Interior Designers in 2007 and acquired her LEED® Accreditation in 2008. She has served a wide range of commercial, housing, residential and education clients and brings focus and demands results from her projects. It is clear that she plays a key role in the company's growth and continued success. Weikel has managed over 7 new multifamily design and constructions in the last 2 years alone and is the Revit standard bearer, pushing the use of BIM and other visualization technologies in the firm.
Popkin, who was strategically hired to the firm in 2020, earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The University of Maryland. He has over 14 years of project experience, which has recently expanded into multifamily new construction with a foundation on Commercial Interiors. He is proactive and understands how to achieve team cohesion on more complex projects. He oversees his own and other staff's projects, including several brewery spaces, a historic rehabilitation, and most notably the new construction project of a 76-unit St Anne's Senior Housing apartment building in Damascus, MD. When he is not working on projects, he is working to find new challenges and opportunities.
