It also helps eliminate "investigative surgery," as well as allowing for Rapid Prototypes to be printed for actual 3D planning, going beyond the screen of virtual 2D visualization.
For example, Ziosoft's CT lung resection planning offers high precision automatic segmentation of the lungs, lung lobes, bronchi, pulmonary arteries and veins, enabling lung resection proposals based on bronchial or arterial anatomy. For CT liver analysis, the protocol is used to segment image masks of the hepatic artery, portal vein and hepatic vein using data of the liver scanned with a contrast material and measure the volumes including liver segments and lesions.
