Zippity Introduces At-Home Car Care to Help Car Owners Stuck at Home Due to Coronavirus

“No contact” service appointments lets owners maintain their vehicles without leaving home

Zippity, the mobile automotive service and software company, is introducing at-home service appointments for car owners forced by the Coronavirus quarantine to stay at home. Until now, only employers of large companies have had access to Zippity’s ultra convenient onsite car care program, offered by large employers as a perk. Now Zippity is extending the service to accommodate all Boston area car owners impacted by the quarantine. As an essential service, Zippity is able to continue operations at this time. There are no extra fees for at-home service appointments.

"We’re happy to expand our coverage to accommodate anyone dealing with the difficulties of this outbreak," said Chief Executive Officer, Edward Warren. "We’ve all been asked to do our part by staying home and practicing social distancing, but essential services like car repair are still necessary for many customers. By making onsite car care available at customers’ homes, we hope to relieve a potential stressor during this unusual time while adhering to public health recommendations."

Zippity performs these services with a “no contact” method. Customers request service online at Zippitycars.com. On service day, a uniformed technician arrives at the customer’s home, retrieves the car key from a pre-arranged location, and performs all services on site. Technicians are trained on CDC guidelines for avoiding transmission of COVID-19, wear disposable gloves during the entire appointment, then spray and wipe down surfaces after service is complete. Customer communications are conducted online, so no face-to-face interaction between the customer and the service technician is required.

At-home service requires car owners to have a fairly level, off-street work area with sufficient room to safely move around the vehicle. Zippity service appointments are performed over containment mats, so there is no risk of oil or other vehicle fluids being spilled into the environment.

Zippity At-Home Services were initially offered exclusively to employees of companies that partner with Zippity for workplace services.
