17 Medals for Master of Malt’s Whiskies & Spirits at the 2013 International Wine & Spirits Competition
(PRWEB UK) 29 July 2013 -- The prestigious competition is now in its 44th year and the rigorous judging process includes both rounds of blind tasting by leading industry experts and chemical analysis of each wine and spirit.
Master of Malt 30 Year Old Speyside (5th Edition) was awarded a Gold Outstanding Medal, not only receiving a score of over 90 out of 100 but also being selected by the judges as a stand out whisky, worthy of an accolade even higher than Gold.
IWSC Tasting Note for Master of Malt 30 Year Old Speyside (5th Edition):
“Nose opens with an array of tropical fruits including mango, pineapple and citrus. The barley, ripe plum, raisin and dried apricot come into play. Warm, elegant entry with slow flow across the palate into deep, well rounded mouth. Butterscotch joins what the nose advertised. Warm, appealing, long finish. Generous and rewarding.”
A Gold Medal was awarded to Professor Cornelius Ampleforth’s Bathtub Gin, which is owned by Master of Malt. It also scored over 90 out of 100 to prove itself as a “superior example” that’s “setting the standard.” This comes on the back of the multi-award-winning gin receiving a Trophy and two Gold Medals at the International Spirits Challenge (ISC) earlier this month.
IWSC Tasting Note for Professor Cornelius Ampleforth’s Bathtub Gin:
“Delicate aromas of juniper and spice, with a touch of glycerine sweetness, lead the way to a classy palate, with an impressively gentle delivery for its strength, and a lingering finish that only emphasises the underlying quality of the base spirit.”
Further medals were awarded to various products in the Master of Malt branded and Professor Cornelius Ampleforth ranges, as well as spirits from Master of Malt’s other brands such as That Boutique-y Whisky Company, Origin Single Estate Gins and The Handmade Cocktail Company. Master of Malt also produces the Worship St. Whistling Shop Cream Gin, which received a Silver Medal.
