1-800-PetMeds’® 2nd Annual Change a Pet’s Life Contest to Grant $3,500 to Animal Rescues
Pompano Beach, Fla. (PRWEB) January 08, 2016 -- 1-800-PetMeds®, America’s Largest Pet Pharmacy®, is celebrating Change a Pet’s Life Day on January 24, 2016, by sponsoring the medical treatments and surgeries of three winning adoptable pets for a total amount up to $3,500.
The contest, which started January 8, 2016, will be open to entries from U.S. animal shelters and rescue groups through January 14, 2016, at 11:59 P.M. ET. Each animal rescue group can enter into the contest one adoptable pet in need of extensive medical treatment or surgery.
To enter, an animal shelter/ rescue representative must visit the contest webpage at http://www.petmeds.org/change-a-pets-life-contest/ and fill out the entry form. The representative must include a photo of the animal, as well as a brief description of what treatment the pet needs and his or her story. Only one pet from each animal rescue group may be entered.
The voting period will be open from January 15, 2016, at 12 A.M. ET through January 20, 2016, at 11:59 P.M. ET. U.S. residents 18 and older are eligible to vote once per 24 hours. The three pets with the most votes will be announced as winners on or around January 22, 2016.
First place will receive up to $2,000 towards medical treatment and/or surgery, along with inclusion in a video highlighting the winning pet and animal rescue group. Second place will receive $1,000 towards medical treatment, and third place will receive $500 towards medical treatment. All prizes will be paid to the attending veterinarians and animal hospitals to pay for the winning pets’ care.
“Many animal rescues take on pets in need of extensive care, simply because the pets have nowhere else to go,” said Erin Gleeson, outreach specialist at 1-800-PetMeds. “We are proud to continue the Change a Pet’s Life Contest this year to help not only the winning adoptable pets, but also the selfless rescue groups that save needy pets on a regular basis.”
This is the second year 1-800-PetMeds® has held the Change a Pet’s Life Contest. Last year’s winner was a pug named Gorilla, entered by Pug Rescue Austin. After winning the contest and receiving the funds for necessary oral and airway surgery, Gorilla recovered his health and was adopted.
1-800-PetMeds® is requesting all entries be completed by rescue/shelter group representatives and all pets be entered with the groups’ permission. This contest is limited to U.S. animal rescue groups and animal shelters. Pet lovers are encouraged to reach out to their favorite groups and urge them to enter, and then vote for the pet to win.
