Ideaventions Academy Accepting Applications for Fall 2022, Curriculum Focuses on Creativity and Critical Thinking
RESTON, Va., April 26, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Beginning in Fall 2022, Ideaventions Academy for Mathematics and Science is expanding its grades to include 1st through 3rd grade students starting with the upcoming 2022 - 2023 academic year. The announcement comes on the heels of the news that thousands of students are expected to attend summer school in Fairfax County to address gaps.
Ideaventions Academy, which offers a curriculum through 12th grade, has been a leader in innovative education since its founding in 2015. Intellectually curious children who love to learn will discover a close-knit community where they can be challenged while having fun.
The school values a balance between active learning with student choice and outdoor exploration, providing all students, including middle and high school students, with a daily 30-minute recess, multiple 10-minute breaks, and a 30-minute morning walk. Students looking to play with ideas and knowledge, be challenged to solve problems, and learn through experimentation find the perfect environment to be themselves.
Ideaventions' curriculum provides students who are working above grade level exposure to material that challenges them to learn and master skills at the pace that they crave. The average class size at Ideaventions is typically eight students per teacher, ensuring that students are able to receive the personalized attention and differentiation needed to ensure individual success.
With Ideaventions' expansion, academically advanced rising 1st to 3rd grade students will now be able to take advantage of a unique learning environment that includes math, science, computer science, and engineering. The comprehensive program humanities curricula, with Newbery Medal books and history and language arts curricula designed for gifted learners.
Ryan Heitz, Head of School, said, "The widening gap in skills in a public-school classroom, with an average of 20-25 students, encouraged us to accelerate the launch of our 1st - 3rd programs. Our average class sizes are one-third the size of a typical first-grade classroom, and there are students for whom engagement in the classroom is tied to being able to access advanced curriculum. We are able to provide that to our local community."
