InfoRelay Completes Dark Fiber Connectivity Between Its New York City Data Centers
New York, NY (PRWEB) October 14, 2013 -- Northern Virginia-based data center and managed colocation provider InfoRelay has completed physical dark fiber connectivity between its three downtown New York data center facilities, as of October 7. The upgraded network connections are the second phase of a larger New York-area expansion, as InfoRelay just opened the doors on its third Manhattan-area facility about a month ago, which can be seen here.
InfoRelay, which is headquartered in the Ashburn, Virginia-area provides small, medium and enterprise business, as well as government entities with data center colocation, network bandwidth, cloud hosting and managed IT solutions. The latest connectivity upgrades and data center expansions in New York are part of InfoRelay’s grander infrastructure growth initiative, which was announced in a press release on June 25 2013. The completion of its most recent upgrades, spanning dark fiber connections between InfoRelay’s LGA1, LGA2 and LGA3 data centers allow clients that are hosting servers in a given New York data center through colocation to cross-connect to networks in other New York facilities without having physical equipment at the remote location.
The infrastructure and connectivity upgrades are intended to reduce costs for end-users of InfoRelay’s colocation and bandwidth services, states InfoRelay. Director of Technical Operations Josh Abraham explains, “This dark fiber network will help us to reduce network latency for customers while at the same time bringing down the overall cost of our bandwidth blend to our customers. It allows us to use ISPs and Network providers available in our different New York data centers facilities. In addition, the New York dark fiber connectivity creates additional, inexpensive data transport options available to our customers.” InfoRelay’s growth initiatives in New York and nationwide are expected to span the upcoming year, as the firm has laid plans to grow infrastructure in Los Angeles, CA, Ashburn, VA and Chicago, IL as well as other cities.
