Bozeman, MT (PRWEB) July 22, 2013 -- The best GPS watches for women for 2013 have been named by the Heart Rate Watch Company.
"Women have the challenge of getting a watch that is small enough to fit and still has some battery life because many GPS watches are simply too big," says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company. "To get on this list the watches had to be 2 ounces or less and they had to function well for running, cycling or whatever the proposed functionality is."
Top Women's Running Watch
"Garmin Forerunner 210 Multicolor is our favorite women's running watch that has built-in GPS," says Squire. He adds, "It weighs a mere 1.8 ounces, is compact and offers advanced interval training features, heart rate and incredible maps via Garmin Connect software."
Top Women's Cycling & Running Watches
The Polar RCX3 GPS and Polar RC3 are great choices here. The RCX3 weighs only 1.3 ounces, is small and uses an external GPS sensor with a clip. "The Polar RC3 weighs 2 ounces and is fully integrated offering great run/bike functionality," according to Squire.
Top Women's Triathlon GPS
"The Garmin Forerunner 910XT and 310XT are just too big and bulky for women," says Squire. Both watches weigh around 2.75 ounces, which is simply too heavy for most women, according to Squire. The Polar RCX5 GPS with G5 GPS sensor is probably the safest bet. "The watch weighs just 1.6 ounces and the GPS weight on your hip or jersey pocket is unnoticeable," says Squire.
New Offerings
"The new TomTom GPS watches look nice at just 1.75 ounces but they are a bit more simplistic on the features and interface than Polar, Garmin or Suunto," says Squire. "The one button interface is slick and the slim profile and lightweight but it remains to be seen just how good they really are," says Squire.
"We've tested all of the GPS offering for women and, while there are limits, this list represents the best of the best from our testing," says Squire.
