2013 NASPAA/ASPA Distinguished Research Winner Announced
Washington, DC (PRWEB) September 25, 2013 -- NASPAA: The Global Standard in Public Service Education and the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) announce that Dr. Sanjay Pandey of Rutgers University-Campus at Newark has won the 2013 Distinguished Research Award. The annual award recognizes a scholar whose research has made substantial impact on the thought and understanding of public administration.
Dr. Pandey’s research covers public service motivation, organizational performance, bureaucratic barriers (“red tape”) and a range of other topics. He has clarified the concept of “publicness” in terms of the differences between public and private management approaches and responsibilities in terms of motivation, performance, mission and other elements.
Dr. Pandey is a full Professor in the School of Public Affairs & Administration at Rutgers-Newark. He received a Ph.D. in Social Science from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.
Dr. Pandey has published over 50 journal articles, many of which have been cited by other scholars an exceptionally high number of times: 43 articles have been cited at least 10 times, seven of which have been cited more than 100 times.
In his nomination letter, Rutgers School of Public Affairs & Administration Dean Marc Holzer wrote, “Dr. Pandey has made major scholarly contributions to the public administration literature and has been a galvanizing force for research.” He added, “As much as any scholar working today, Professor Pandey deserves credit for providing an empirical basis to address the central questions in public administration and public affairs.”
Dr. Pandey was nominated by two previous Distinguished Research Award recipients: Dean Holzer and Donald Moynihan at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and by Hal Rainey at the University of Georgia, previous recipient of the ASPA/NASPAA Charles Levine Memorial Award. Dr. Pandey will be presented with the award October 10 during NASPAA’s Annual Conference in Washington.
