2014 Aesthetic Meeting Highlights New Trends, Technologies and Procedural Innovations in Plastic Surgery
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 25, 2014 -- The Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF), today presented reports and studies on trends, emerging technologies, procedural innovations and the future of the aesthetic surgical specialty during “Premier Global Hot Topics,” a six-hour teaching course held at the annual Aesthetic Meeting from April 24-29 in San Francisco, CA.
The Premier Global Hot Topics sessions featured topics including:
• Biofilms – one of the hottest evolving topics in plastic surgery and its impact on breast implants and soft-tissue fillers
• Google Glass in plastic surgery - exploring how this tool is advancing the aesthetic surgery field in and outside of the operating room.
• Voluma - the latest US FDA approval for facial fillers with unique properties for cheek volume loss correction
• New non-surgical fat removal technology including Vanquish RF, a nonsurgical procedure that uses radio frequency (RF) waves to heat up - and kill - fat cells without harming surrounding tissue.
• Tips to determine which neurotoxins (Botox, Dysport or Xeomin) one should use.
• Cellulite treatment - 2 new technologies and the science behind them : Xiaflex (Auxillium) in phase 2 of development for the treatment of cellulite and cabochon, a device which received FDA clearance for short-term improvement in the appearance of cellulite in the buttocks and thighs of adult females that is slated to launch on a limited basis in the latter-half of 2014.
• New natural scaffolding technology for soft tissue support including Galaflex and Seri-scaffold with exciting applications in plastic surgery.
