2014 Catholics In Media Film & TV Awards to Monuments Men, Cesar's Last Fast, CBS News Sunday Morning and Frank Tobin at June 1 Awards Ceremony in Pacific Palisades, CA
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 24, 2014 -- Catholics in Media Associates (CIMA) celebrates its 21st Anniversary in 2014 with a mass and film and television awards ceremony on Sunday, June 1 which will honor the film “The Monuments Men,” the feature documentary “Cesar’s Last Fast” and the television news program “CBS News Sunday Morning.” CIMA Board President Nancy Norton Bevins lauds each of the 2014 CIMA Award recipients “For their compelling storytelling, uplifting message and their commitment to finding God’s message of truth and light in stories both large and small.” The 2014 CIMA Awards at the Bel-Air Bay Club, Pacific Palisades, CA, begins with a 10:00 AM open-air mass before moving inside for a brunch buffet and the awards ceremony. Bevins is executive producer, Patrick Cardamone is producer and Patrick MacKellan is associate producer of the 2014 CIMA Awards ceremony. Fr. Gregory Boyle, SJ, founder of Homeboy Industries and author of “Tattoos on The Heart,” will be the mass presider. Michael Harney (“True Detective,” “Weeds” and “Orange is the New Black”) is Master of Ceremonies. 2014 CIMA Awards Honorary Chairman is Frank Tobin.
The 2014 CIMA Board of Directors Award will be presented to “Cesar’s Last Fast.” In 1988, Cesar Chavez embarked on what would be his last act of protest in his remarkable life: a 36-day, water-only “Fast for Life” hunger strike to draw attention to the horrific effects of unfettered pesticide use on farm workers, their families and the community. Utilizing never-before-seen footage, directors Richard Ray Perez and Lorena Parlee weave together the larger story of Chavez’s life, vision and legacy. “Cesar’s Last Fast” was produced by Monkey Mind Media with Richard Ray Perez and Lyn Lear as executive producers.
The 2014 CIMA Motion Picture Award will be presented to the Columbia Pictures-Twentieth Century Fox feature film “The Monuments Men,” a Smokehouse Production produced, directed, co-written and starring George Clooney, based on a book by Robert M. Edsel with Brett Witter. The true story of one of the greatest treasure hunts in history, “The Monuments Men” focuses on a team of art historians, curators and museum directors tasked with rescuing some of the world’s greatest artistic achievements from Nazi Germany and returning them to their rightful owners. Barbara Hall is executive producer.
The 2014 CIMA TV Award will be presented to “CBS News Sunday Morning,” the news magazine program which celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2014. First aired in 1979 and now hosted by Charles Osgood, the weekly program has been praised for its in-depth coverage of stories and topics and its uplifting point of view.
