MIAMI (PRWEB) June 09, 2015 -- Emmanuel C. Nwamah’s poignant autobiography, “Overcoming Obstacles: Living Through the Experience of War” (published by AuthorHouse), will be displayed at the 2015 American Library Association Annual Conference, June 25-30 in San Francisco.
In his book, Nwamah tells his family history, explaining his life growing up without his father, who died when he was only 2 years old. The Nigerian Civil War began while he was in the third grade, and shortly after, he lost his mother when he was only 13. He lived in several refugee camps during the war, surviving despite his lack of parents to guide him and always keeping hope that his education would continue.
After the war, Nwamah completed high school and went to work for the Nigerian Railway Corporation. In 1980, he came to America to pursue his dream of higher education, ultimately attaining his bachelor’s degree and thereby fulfilling his dream. His simple message from his educational story is to never give up on a dream.
“No matter what obstacles you may face in life, you should not give up hope,” Nwamah says. “It is very important to always have a positive attitude in every situation. This is about letting the situation inspire you to work hard rather than giving up. Therefore the choice is yours to overcome any obstacle that comes your way, just like I did.”
