2015 Annual Nationwide "Shred Cancer" Shredding Event
WASHINGTON, DC (PRWEB) April 19, 2015 -- The American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) is once again teaming up with PROSHRED Security (“PROSHRED”) to host its second annual, nationwide Shred Cancer event. Community members are invited to shred their personal documents in order to raise funds for cancer research and increase awareness about cancer prevention.
The June 6th event is being held at 20+ PROSHRED locations throughout the country from 8am – 2pm local time. The time will vary at select locations.
Individuals are welcome to bring up to five boxes of documents to one of PROSHRED 's on-site shredding trucks to safely and securely collect and dispose of unwanted personal documents. The event is free to attend; a suggested donation of $5 per box will go directly towards funding AICR’s cancer research program.
Participants will receive a goodie bag with cancer-prevention recipes and other materials.
"The funds raised by the Shred Cancer events will support vital cancer research. We are delighted to be working with PROSHRED to deliver life-saving messages about lowering cancer risk. We had sunshine in every location and more crucially, we surpassed our collection goals. I cannot wait for June 6th, 2015 where we can once again help to make a difference and hopefully one day Shred Cancer."
First held in 2014 on National Cancer Survivors Day, last year's event attracted over 6,000 attendees and raised more than $30,000 for research.
