2015 Funding Roadshow Arrives in Toronto on March 25 at Ryerson DMZ
Montreal, QC (PRWEB) March 19, 2015 -- The 2015 Funding Roadshow, a national initiative with 11 city stops across Canada, today announced the details of its first Toronto stop. (For a complete schedule, please see https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/2015-funding-roadshow-toronto-march-tickets-15460020337).
Presented by Intuit and organized by Fundica, the 2015 Funding Roadshow gives start-ups and SMEs the opportunity to pitch their businesses – and potentially secure financing – to a panel of financial institutions, venture capitalists, angel investors, government organizations and private lenders. Funders benefit from exposure to emerging opportunities and the chance to invest before the rest of the market. The objective of the Funding Roadshow is to better educate entrepreneurs and facilitate connections with private investors and public funders.
At each city stop, up to 20 select entrepreneurs will pitch to a panel of 8 to 10 funders. Pitches are limited to five minutes, followed by an eight-minute Q&A session. All participating entrepreneurs must expect revenue growth in excess of 50% and present a strong technological element in their vision. Additionally, each day-long city stop offers a choice of several workshops, on related issues, to registered attendees.
Participating funders at Ryerson DMZ include: BDC, First Stone Ventures, Impression Ventures, MaRS IAF, Ontario Centres of Excellence, Plazacorp Ventures, R&D Capital, Real Ventures, Relay Ventures and Ryerson Futures.
A winning entrepreneur will be chosen at each city stop. Winners will receive numerous prizes including: six months of office space in the greater San Francisco area, round-trip airfare to San Francisco, cloud hosting packages from CANARIE and SoftLayer, and one year of Intuit QuickBooks online.
“The Funding Roadshow is a tremendous opportunity for Canadian entrepreneurs, investors and funders,” says Sunil Sharma, Managing Partner, Extreme Venture Partners. “For 11 fortunate entrepreneurs across the country, participating in this initiative will be a game-changing moment. The Funding Roadshow has a unique ability to span the entire country and unite people with diverse areas of expertise and a shared passion for technology and innovation. I look forward to attending both the DMZ and MaRS stops.”
“We are very pleased to be organizing the Funding Roadshow this year with our presenting partner Intuit,” adds Mike Lee, President, Fundica. “We are particularly pleased to be visiting Toronto twice in 2015 and making stops at both Ryerson DMZ and MaRS Discovery District. I would also like to thank the 58 collaborative, supporting, hosting and community partners across Canada who make the Funding Roadshow possible.”
