2015 Highland Jazz and Blues Festival Presented by Twisted Root Burger Company to be Held on Saturday, September 19
Shreveport, LA (PRWEB) July 21, 2015 -- The Highland Jazz and Blues Festival presented by Twisted Root Burger Company will host its twelfth annual event, 12-5 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Columbia Park in Shreveport’s historic Highland neighborhood. Festival organizers recently announced the lineup of musical artists for 2015, including headliner performances by Papa Mali with Big Chief Monk Boudreaux and John Lisi and the Delta Funk, as well as performances by Buddy Flett, Matthew Davidson Band, AJ and the Two-Tone Blues Band, Brian Martin, Cameron Merrell, and Brian Sivils.
There is no cost to attend the festival. In addition to two stages of live music, the festival includes art and food vendors, activities for children, and more. The festival is organized by Highland Area Partnership, a Shreveport-based nonprofit.
This year, for the first time in the history of the festival, the event will expand to a multi-day format including a festival preview party at Great Raft Brewing, 7-10 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 18, an official festival after-party at Twisted Root Burger Company, 6-9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19 and a Sunday jazz brunch at Rhino Coffee in downtown Shreveport, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., on Sunday, September 20.
“We’re trying to make this a whole weekend of activities,” said Highland Area Partnership Director Kelly Rich. “Each year, we’ve progressively grown the event. The festival is quintessential Highland. The vibe is so cool.”
Launched in 2003, the festival has grown from a handful of bands and a crowd of 500-1,000 to a gathering that now includes two stages, 10 bands, food and art vendors, and 10,000 music fans in Columbia Park. The festival is a gift to the community from the Highland Area Partnership doing business as the Highland Jazz and Blues Festival presented by Twisted Root Burger Company. Proceeds from poster, t-shirt, and beverage sales, donations, and sponsorships are used to bring the festival back each year.
