Macy’s Partners with SourceAmerica to Hire People with Disabilities
VIENNA, VA -- (PRWEB) November 29, 2016 -- SourceAmerica applauds the example of corporate social responsibility Macy’s is setting in hiring thousands of people with disabilities. Macy’s recently contracted with SourceAmerica to provide staffing for their annual holiday surge as well as regular, full-time positions in locations across the country beginning in 2017.
“We applaud Macy’s corporate social responsibility and its commitment to supporting our mission,” said Clara Conti, vice president of Sales for SourceAmerica. “Thanks to their forward-thinking, they’ll be helping us combat the fact that 80 percent of people with disabilities are not in the workforce.”
The three-year contract will provide employee candidates for warehouse fulfillment centers as well as retail locations for both Macy’s and Bloomingdales.
Macy’s commitment is to more than just creating jobs, Conti said. It’s also setting the example for other companies when it comes to creating a diverse work force.
“We truly appreciate the fact that Macy’s embraces what our mission has borne out over and over again – that people with disabilities have the talent and drive to make the workplace better, that the root of ‘disability’ is ‘ability,’” Conti said.
Macy’s is one of several major employers that has recently focused hiring efforts on strengthening staffing with employees who have disabilities. SourceAmerica’s network of nonprofit agencies includes more than 1,000 members. Its affiliated agencies employed more than 113,000 people with disabilities in 2015.
“SourceAmerica Staffing Services is prepared to leverage our staffing nonprofit network to fulfill these positions and provide meaningful employment to a large spectrum of people with disabilities to Macy’s,” said Tom Granata, director of Staffing Services. “We are open to adding additional nonprofits that are interested in supporting our cause.”
