Nimble Impressions Responds To Minneapolis Plastic Bag Ban Taking Effect In June Of 2017
St. Paul, Mn (PRWEB) November 30, 2016 -- Nimble Impressions, a premier Minneapolis area marketing agency, is ready support the community for the plastic carry out bag ban. In the spring of the 2016 the Minneapolis City Council voted on an ordinance to ban retailers from using plastic carry out bags.
Under the ordinance, retailers can offer paper, reusable or compostable bags. Retailers can either charge customers at least 5 cents per bag, or the retailer can pay the same fee to a litter cleanup nonprofit. Customers who receive food assistance will be exempted from paying for bags.
The ban will take effect in June 2017. Nimble Impressions, along with the Nimble for Good initiative, has the resources to supply Minnesota with quality, personalized, reusable bags that fall in line with the requirements. Consider Nimble the Minnesota’s official reusable grocery bag supplier.
“Summer of 2017 will be here before we know it. It’s Nimble’s prerogative to be a solution for all those in need, whether they need reusable bags or other products,” said Alan Haskins, owner of Nimble. “We see this not only as an opportunity to participate in bettering the planet and our community, but also as an opportunity for our customers to be comforted with a resource for supplying an item that will soon be in high demand.”
Not only will the approval of this ordinance reduce litter, but it’s main intent is to cut down on pollution. A majority of plastic bags from retailers end in the city’s trash burner at the end of each year.
Surrounding communities are also considering banning the bags, so this is an issue likely to affect the entire metro area eventually. At the November 2, 2015 Special Study Session Discussion and later during a July 25, 2016 Study Session Discussion, the St. Louis Park City Council chose to set aside action on single-use plastic bags. The council may choose to revisit the plastic bag issue in the future and in the meantime encourages residents to bring their own bags when shopping and recycle plastic bags at retail locations.
No matter where you stand on the issue one fact remains… Minneapolis needs to respond to the change. Come June of 2017 consumers will need something other than plastic bags to tote goods home. We support you Minnesota!
