2016 Fundica Roadshow Arrives in Toronto on March 4 at Telus House
(PRWEB) February 26, 2016 -- The 2016 Fundica Roadshow, a national initiative with 10 city stops across Canada, today announced the details of its first Toronto stop at the Telus House on March 4th. (For a complete schedule, please see http://www.eventbrite.ca/e/2016-fundica-roadshow-toronto-hosted-by-telus-tickets-20433448996).
Presented by Intuit and organized by Fundica, the 2016 Fundica Roadshow gives start-ups and SMEs the opportunity to pitch their businesses – and potentially secure financing – to a panel of financial institutions, venture capitalists, angel investors, government organizations and private lenders. The Fundica Roadshow has facilitated funding opportunities for over 31% of its selected pitching companies in the past three years.
In 2015, the Fundica team traveled 20,019 km, in 25 days, across 11 cities to complete the Fundica Roadshow, which was by far the best one since its launch in 2013. The event spanned 11 cities coast-to-coast with a grande finale in San Francisco. The event was put together with the help of 65 incubators and accelerators in Canada and involved 144 pitches, 1147 participants, and 124 funders as well as 96 inspirational RoadTalk presentations provided by guest speakers.
Participating speakers and funders at Telus House include: OMERS Ventures, Fundthrough, PayPal Canada, Impression Ventures, SeedUps, FrontFundr, IBM, CANARIE, NACO Canada, Extreme Venture Partners, SurePath Capital Partners, Ryerson Futures, CFC Media Lab, First Stone Venture Partners, INcubes, Startup Toronto, Nethris Payroll Services, QuickBooks Canada, Blakes, BDC, Ontario Centres of Excellence and many more.
A winning entrepreneur will be chosen at each city stop. Winners will receive numerous prizes including: three months of office space in San Francisco, round-trip airfare to San Francisco, a pitch opportunity to VCs in the Valley and cloud hosting packages from CANARIE and IBM, and one year of Intuit QuickBooks online.
“The Fundica Roadshow is a tremendous opportunity for Canadian entrepreneurs, investors and funders,” says Sunil Sharma, Managing Partner, Extreme Venture Partners. “For 10 fortunate entrepreneurs across the country, participating in this initiative will be a game-changing moment. The Fundica Roadshow has a unique ability to span the entire country and unite people with diverse areas of expertise and a shared passion for technology and innovation. I look forward to attending both the Telus and MaRS stops.”
“We are very pleased to be organizing the Fundica Roadshow this year with our presenting partner Intuit,” adds Mike Lee, President, Fundica. “We are particularly pleased to be visiting Toronto twice in 2016 and making stops at both Telus House and MaRS Discovery District. I would also like to thank all our partners across Canada who make the Fundica Roadshow possible.”
