Newburyport, MA (PRWEB) December 20, 2017 -- Today Psych Central® (PsychCentral.com) announced it has completed its acquisition of New England Psychologist, an independent trade publication with the greatest reach among psychologists in the greater New England region. Psych Central will operate the publication as an important component of its growing Psych Central Professional network.
"We’re honored to have New England Psychologist join the Psych Central family," said Psych Central's founder & CEO, John Grohol, Psy.D.
“This is a leading trade publication with a history longer than our own. It carries a well-known reputation among psychologists and other mental health professionals for its outstanding journalism," noted Dr. Grohol.
New England Psychologist was founded in February 1993 as Massachusetts Psychologist by Denise M.T. Yocum, Psy.D. In 2002, the publication changed its name and expanded to all the New England states – Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. It is mailed to all licensed psychologists in the region, and its special directory of New England psychiatric hospitals/units is mailed to psychiatrists as well.
"We’re proud of the work we’ve done over the past 26 years bringing news and information to the region’s psychologists,” said New England Psychologist’s founder, Dr. Yocum. "It’s been an honor to work with so many of the publication’s impassioned professionals, including editors, columnists, journalists, photographers and graphic designers. We’re confident that Dr. Grohol and his team will continue this tradition of keeping the region’s psychologists connected and informed."
Psych Central plans to continue uninterrupted publication of New England Psychologist throughout 2018, while integrating past articles and its website into the company’s mental health professional section, Psych Central Professional.
“Dr. Yocum has built and overseen a fantastic publication with great journalism, one we’re honored to continue for years to come as a part of Psych Central,” said Dr. Grohol. New England Psychologist’s market reach among psychologists in the region is more than twice that of competing publications.
Psych Central.com is the leading mental health and psychology network today, reaching more than seven million users each month. Approximately ten percent of its audience is comprised of mental health professionals, including psychologists.
