2017 Newark International Film Festival Returns to Newark, New Jersey
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 09, 2017 -- As before, this 3-day festival will showcase every area of the film industry and feature screenings at a number of cultural anchor institutions and outdoor venues. It will also feature stunt exhibitions, pitch opportunities and “on-the-spot” TV and film auditions, in addition to workshops on acting, directing, producing, screenwriting, casting and crowd funding.
From funding to features, NIFF has come to be known as a destination for experimentation in television and film, and an arable land for exploration and innovation for all things “film industry.” The Newark International Film Festival was founded by Kenneth Gifford, Director of the Newark Office of Film and Television and Ironbound Studios. As a filmmaker and industry leader, Kenneth Gifford has a passion for the arts and understands the importance of a strong and successful festival and how it can be a benefit to the community and industry as a whole. Inspired by Reverend Hannibal Goodwin, an Episcopal priest who invented celluloid film in 1887 in Newark, NJ, and set up the Goodwin Film and Camera Company in 1900, Gifford proudly touts Newark as the “birthplace of film, saying “it’s only fitting that we host a film festival here.” As a way to pay homage to Goodwin's trailblazing spirit, one of the main features of NIFF each year, is the Goodwin Award for Innovation in Filmmaking, presented to a present day trailblazer for their outstanding contribution to innovation in the art of filmmaking.
