2018 Long Island Digital Awards Conclude, with Next Steps in the Works
RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (PRWEB) August 02, 2018 -- The first annual Long Island Digital Awards (LIDA) and networking event have concluded. A total of 26 first-place and finalists’ awards were handed out during the awards gala at Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook. The evening was emcee'd by the award-winning producer and creative writer Donna Drake, host of the Live It Up! talk show.
The awards honor Long Island marketers that have used digital platforms to produce effective, innovative advertising and branding projects. Award categories included Audio/Video, Digital Media, and Strategic Communications.
Although submissions were open to agencies, the event was designed to support in-house corporate marketers. A co-production of Vertigo Media Group and Long Island Business News, LIDA was conceived to create a welcoming space “to honor these hard-working internal marketers who routinely deliver amazing work that often goes unrecognized outside of their niche,” said Lisa Mirabile, CEO of Vertigo Media Group. “Digital is a medium that demands a different approach to communication, and we want to share our successes and encouragements with peers in this frontier space.”
“As marketing professionals, we should be inspired by the creativity of others in our field,” she added. “Too often we’re possessive about our clients and our strategies and afraid to put our efforts on display. This is especially true for the solo corporate marketer, who risks being siloed and cut off from the “in-group” of agency marketing.”
As for what the future holds for the LIDA awards, marketers should keep an eye on the event website at longislanddigitalawards.com, where Vertigo will be creating a platform for ongoing education and collaboration for the island’s community of marketing professionals. “We want the site to be a source of education and inspiration, not just a landing page for the event itself,” said Mirabile. “We’re partnering with a number of our neighbors to make LIDA into a resource, so look out for upcoming webinars and other resources that are in the works!”
