20th APS Prepares Delegates as Economic Uncertainties Cloud Asian Petrochemical Industry
(PRWEB) August 21, 2013 -- CMT’s 20th Asia Petrochemical Summit is set for 26-27 Sep 2013 in Singapore. The annual conference returns to examine the changing market dynamics and feedstocks evolvement in the Asian petrochemical industry. To achieve this, it aims to analyze issues such as the factors affecting global recovery and key drivers for growth, the impact of US Shale gas projects on Asia petrochemical industry and the competitiveness of ME feedstock against US shale, amongst others.
The increasingly importance of shale gas has created different prospects for the petrochemical industry’s future. Shale gas boom allows the United States to transition from an energy importer to an energy exporter in the foreseeable future. The country’s shale gas-driven petrochemical projects are, therefore, bound to impact the Middle East and the Asian petrochemical markets. This is the concern Mr. Chris Faulkner, Chief Executive Officer with Breitling Energy Companies, will touch on in his presentation entitled ‘Shale Gas Investments Projects Update and Opportunities in Asia’. Joining him is Mr. Stuart R. Traver, Technical Director – Downstream and Strategy at Gaffney Cline and Associates (Consultants) Pte Ltd, with an address on ‘US Shale Gas Revolution and its impact on Asia Petchem’.
Among the insightful addresses is a session on ‘Capturing Gas Chemical Opportunity’ by Chul-Jin Kim, VP, Head of PDH Process Management, SK Gas Co Ltd, sharing an overview of SK Gas perspective on LPG industry dynamics, SK Gas’ growth strategy and project overview and competitiveness of SK Gas PDH. Dialogues on ‘Olefins Market & its Derivatives’ by Mr. Wonsoo Byun, Senior Consultant, Energy & Chemicals Consulting Asia, Nexant Asia Limited and on ‘Prospect of Bio-based Chemicals & Polymers’ by Dr. Noppawan Tanpipat, Vice President, Innovation Strategy and Partnering, PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited provide further in-depth assessment of emerging trends in the industry.
As part of the regional coverage, country-specific opportunities and challenges for the petrochemical industry in Asia will be highlighted. Dr. Sheng Hong, Associate, Principal (Petrochemical Service), Mckinsey & Company shares on “China’s Expansion in Petchem and Feedstock Consideration”, while “Japan’s Petrochemical Outlook and its Future” will be reviewed by Mr. Takashi Naemura, Deputy GM, Petrochemicals Division, Mitsubishi Corporation. Mr. Edwin Vanderbruggen, Partner, VDB Loi Myanmar, will discuss the outlook for chemical trading and distribution in Myanmar.
20th APS is expected to draw regional senior executives and traders from Feedstock/Olefins/Aromatics/Plastics Companies, Coal & Natural Gas Companies, Refineries, Additives and Catalyst Companies, Industry/Energy Consultants, Project Financiers, Technology Licensors, International Engineering & Contracting Firms supporting the energy industries to converge in Singapore this September.
