20th Century Modern Design and Fine Art Auction May 17th at Kaminski Auctions
(PRWEB) May 05, 2015 -- Kaminski Auctions is pleases to announce their spring 20th Century Modern Design and Fine Art Auction on May 17th at 10:00am. Highlights of the sale include a wide array of 20th century and modern furniture from Charles and Ray Eames, Knoll, Le Corbusier, Thayer Coggin, and Poul Henningsen among others.
Fine art offerings include works by Maurice Utrillo, Wayne Thiebaud, Calder, and Marcel Mouly. The Utrillo (1883-1955) entry in the sale is a French landscape in pastel inscribed lower right “A.Roger Lapoet, Maurice Utrillo, Saint Aerrak, 1933 valued at $25,000-$35,000, there is also a Fritz Willis (American 1907-1979) pastel of a nude woman, reclining in black stockings valued at $3,500-$6,500.
There is a vast array of twentieth century and modern iconic furniture on offer including a Saporiti Italia sofa designed by Alberto Rosselli. The sofa is circa 1970’s with a steel frame and twin stitched leather upholstery. It is a butter soft caramel color leather and is estimated at $5,000-$8,000. Gio Ponti barrel back armchairs are another Italian entry, with burl wood backs and zebra print upholstery the pair are valued at $3,000-$6,000. There is a Le Corbusier model LC4 chaise lounge in original cowhide upholstery, several sets of Charles and Ray Eames chairs with matching ottomans and a Warren Platner for N.K. Glas style dining table and coffee table, both made in Sweden.
Perhaps the most intriguing piece in the sale is an original Poul Henningsen “Artichoke” hanging lamp. Made of white enameled aluminum and stainless steel, the lamp is circa 1960 and has its original sticker. Measuring 21 inches by 23inches it is estimated at $1,500-$2,000.
Decorative arts entries in the sale include an Edward Moulthrop (1916-2003) tulipwood bowl circa 1980’s. This magnificent piece is branded with artist’s mark and is estimated at $10,000-$15,000. There is a Salvador Dali wall hanging sculpture of red clay pottery with airbrush decoration, a Pablo Picasso still life plate and a large collection of Daum pate de verre glass including glasses, and vases.
Preview for this exciting sale begins on Thursday, May 14th and runs through Saturday, May 16th, 10:00am-5:00pm and Sunday, May 17th, day of sale starting at 8:00am at the Kaminski Auction gallery at 117 Elliott Street, Rt. 62, Beverly, Massachusetts.
