26th Annual Boomsday Festival Attracts 400K to Eastern Tennessee
Knoxville, Tennessee (PRWEB) August 13, 2013 -- Get ready for the 26th Annual Boomsday Festival in Knoxville Tennessee. On Labor Day weekend, rain or shine, Knoxville hosts Boomsday, named for the sound of the the colorfully flashing, glittering fireworks, the largest in the Southeast and the largest Labor Day fireworks display in the US. This event is huge!
On September 1, over 400,00 people, including the residents of Tellico Lake waterfront homes and Loudon real estate developments, are expected in downtown Knoxville, one of the best college towns in Tennessee, for the festivities that will be taking place all through the day. Joining spectators from across the U.S., several foreign dignitaries from Europe and the Far East routinely find their ways to this spectacular event. There is a variety of activities scheduled for the Labor Day celebration. Activities and exhibits will include:
Family Fun Zone with carnival-type rides
Inflatables and bounce houses
Amusement games
Live Bands
Street Performers
Magical Fireworks Display
Thirty food vendors will entice residents with the sights and smells of delicious celebratory foods, cold drinks, and refreshingly cold ice cream. There will be local artists with their works, street performers such as balloon artists, and a stage for performers and young athletes to demonstrate their skills. The MetroPulse Paper Box Design Contest is where 12 artists will be displaying their their hand-painted, “funky” paper boxes, and visitors get to vote for their favorite. The folks from Billy Lush Brand will be offering introductory paddleboarding lessons during the afternoon. There is always fun for everyone.
For the first time, the event’s planners have implemented the “Tweet for a Seat” contest. Everyone in Knoxville, one of the best college towns in Tennessee, including the residents of Tellico Lake waterfront homes and Loudon real estate developments, is encouraged to send a tweet about their favorite South Knoxville business; the tweet must include a picture of the tweeter at the location in order to qualify. Tweets should be sent to the Boomsday site in order to win two VIP tickets to the festival. Hurry! The deadline for tweets is August 12.
The Boomsday Festival takes place along the downtown waterfront. Because of its location, the fireworks display can be viewed from both banks, as well as from the nearby South Gay Street bridge. Residents of Tellico Lake waterfront homes and Loudon real estate developments are able to boat over and tie up to the dock downtown to get started on the fun, food and festivities in the early part of the day. In the evening they can return to their vessels to watch the magical fireworks from their “front row seats” on the water.
Last, but not least, music is a very striking and important part of the day’s happenings. Performers such as the popular Amanda Cramer, who has made a mark for herself in the area with her original works, and the Cerebral Mechanics Dance Crew, well-known in the Tennessee Association of Dance, will be bringing their unique styles to the live performance stage from 5pm-9pm. Most notably, the magnificent fireworks display is actually choreographed to music which will be broadcast over loud speakers at the display as well as a local radio station.
The Boomsday Festival in Knoxville is a huge and breathtaking event with lots to do, hear, see, and enjoy.
