26th Annual FIRST Conference in Boston Gathers Leading Cybersecurity Response Experts from Around the World
Boston, Massachusetts (PRWEB) May 19, 2014 -- The Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST) welcomes the leading cybersecurity response experts from around the world to the 26th Annual FIRST Conference (http://www.first.org/conference/2014), an internationally renowned forum at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts from June 22-27, 2014. This year’s conference explores the theme “Back to the ‘Root’ of Incident Response.”
Maarten Van Horenbeeck, Chair of FIRST, noted, “The purpose of the conference is to bring together FIRST members, and build on our incident response and security circle from around the world. Gathering these intellects together enables them to share their experiences and learn from the collective wealth of knowledge that the attendees and speakers have to share.”
There is no other global event where InfoSec teams from government, global corporations and elite educational institutions gather to openly share the successes and failures of the past year. This conference will feature three parallel tracks, offering many opportunities for information security novices, experts and managers to engage in meaningful conversation and learn from relevant incident handling topics and ideas.
The six-day conference will include the following keynotes speakers:
• Tuesday, June 24: Eugene H. Spafford, professor of computer science at Purdue University and one of the most recognized leaders in the field of computing; he has been honored with nearly every possible award in cybersecurity
• Wednesday, June 25: Dr. Andrew Ozment, assistant secretary, Office of Cybersecurity and Communications Department of Homeland Security
• Thursday, June, 26: Malcolm Harkins, vice president and chief security and privacy officer at Intel Corporation
• Friday, June 27: Bruce Schneier, chief technology officer at Co3 Systems, internationally renowned security technologist, and author of numerous books, articles, papers, newsletters and blogs
“Support from our host NBC Universal has been exceptional and will lead to an extremely successful conference for long-term members and conference newcomers,” said Van Horenbeeck. “As the conference approaches, we will be announcing exciting industry news.”
This year over 500 attendees and 60 speakers will travel from over 50 countries and include more than 300 FIRST Member Teams, such as: Intel, Cisco, Microsoft, Deutsche Bank, Symantec, Siemens, eBay, Hewlett Packard, CERT/CC, BT, Hitachi, Google, IBM, NATO, Facebook, Juniper Networks and University of Oxford.
