2nd Annual Hudson Valley Farm-to-Table Weekend from EscapeMaker.com Benefits Youth Education and Sustainable Agriculture
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) June 17, 2015 -- Spend a memorable weekend in the Hudson Valley with a Hudson River cruise, wine tasting, farm tour and a Farm-to-Table dinner at Katchkie Farm. For the 2nd year, EscapeMaker.com, NYC’s guide to local weekend getaways, culinary and farm escapes, is offering a Farm-to-Table Weekend Overnight Package July 24-26th. The package includes The Sylvia Center’s annual Farm-to-Table Dinner fundraiser held at Katchkie Farm in Kinderhook, NY on July 25th.
The 2-night weekend packages are in Hudson, NY and surrounding Columbia County - approximately 2.5 hours from New York City in the beautiful Hudson Valley. Based on double occupancy, the packages include tickets to the benefit dinner, a river cruise from Hudson Cruises, a special tour and pick-your-own lunch from Hawthorne Valley Farm and a custom tour and wine tasting at Hudson-Chatham Winery. Participating lodgings include the cozy Country Squire Bed & Breakfast in Hudson and the historic Vanderbilt House in Philmont. Best of all, ground transportation will be provided for those arriving via Amtrak. Caylin Sanders, President of EscapeMaker.com comments, “we think it’s key to cater to the car-free traveler who lowers their carbon footprint by taking mass transit, which is why we‘ve partnered with businesses easily reachable from the train station and will be offering a 15% Amtrak discount plus shuttle service to the benefit dinner, winery and farm throughout the weekend.
The weekend package is designed to give visitor’s a relaxing getaway, an overview of the area and an insight into the local agricultural, food and wine scene in Columbia County -- all the while raising money for the Sylvia Center and benefitting local business. Sanders comments, “we’re excited to offer this experience again, especially since last year we generated over $5000 for both the Sylvia Center and Columbia county’s various lodging, attraction and farm partners participating in the package.”
The Farm-to-Table Dinner, the centerpiece of the weekend package and the brainchild of Great Performance’s CEO, Liz Neumark, helps raise funds for The Sylvia Center's programs in Columbia County, which engage youth in every step of the story of food from seed to plate. The Sylvia Center teaches skills that inspire young people to establish independent healthy eating habits - so that they may lead healthy and productive lives. A portion of the event ticket cost ($100) is tax-deductible.
