32nd Annual Mudbug Madness Festival to be Held in Downtown Shreveport, May 21-24
Shreveport, LA (PRWEB) April 28, 2015 -- The 32nd annual Mudbug Madness Festival will take place on Memorial Day Weekend, May 21-24, in downtown Shreveport’s Festival Plaza. The annual event, which features two stages of around-the-clock live music, as well as Louisiana crawfish served every imaginable way, attracts as many as 56,000 people per day. Mudbug Madness Festival has been recognized as one of the American Bus Association’s Top 100 Events in the U.S. for 2015 and has been listed among the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events. Mudbug Madness Festival organizers are pleased to announce a new event sponsor in 2015, Tony Chachere’s. Headliner musicians, including many of the best-known names in Cajun and Zydeco music, will perform on the Tony Chachere’s Stage. Headlining performances will include: Dwayne Dopsie, Thursday, May 21, 8:15 p.m.-11 p.m.; Jamie Bergeron, Friday, May 22, 9 p.m.-11 p.m.; MOJO & the Bayou Gypsies, Saturday, May 23, 8:30 p.m.-11 p.m.; and Wayne Toups, Sunday, May 24, 8:15 p.m.-11 p.m. Live entertainment on the Swamp Stage sponsored by Comcast Cable will include popular rock and blues performers, such as: Memphis Soul, Thursday, May 21, 8 p.m.-11 p.m.; Ghost Town Blues Band, Friday, May 22, 9 p.m.-11 p.m.; Orphan Annie, Saturday, May 23, 9 p.m.-11 p.m.; and Cody Cooke and the Bayou Outlaws, Sunday, May 24, 9 p.m.-11 p.m.
In addition to hot, boiled crawfish and a variety of vendors selling authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine, the 32nd annual Mudbug Madness Festival will feature crawfish eating and calling contests for all ages, roving performances by Unicycle Lady, children’s activity areas and a Louisiana arts marketplace featuring original paintings, jewelry and crafts. The Kids on the Bayou Stage will open at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Kids on the Bayou Stage will feature clowns, kids’ karaoke, singers, storytellers, magic shows and more.
Admission to the festival is free until 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. After 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and all day long on Saturday and Sunday, admission is $5 per person. Children under 8 and all military with ID are admitted free at all times. Mudbug Madness Festival is a presentation of Downtown Shreveport Unlimited, a non-profit membership organization which serves as an advocacy group for downtown Shreveport.
