365 Ways Kids Can Improve Their Vocabulary
LOS ANGELES, CA (PRWEB) November 17, 2014 -- Last week Learning Calendars announced the immediate availability of its initial product, the Kindergarten/1st Grade Vocabulary wall calendar for 2015 available on its website http://www.learnigcalendars.com and expected to be coming soon to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Calendars.com.
Learning Calendars are wall calendars for kids K-8 grade that have either a word of the day, daily math fact, daily science fact and more. According to Learning Calendars owner David Ashe, “Our goal is for every kid who is primary school aged to have one of our calendars and learn at least one new thing from them every day. Whether it's a vocabulary word, math fact or science fact I want them to learn something once a day. A day spent without learning is a day wasted.”
The concept itself is something that was born out of necessity. Ashe created the calendars because he couldn’t find one to buy. This idea is personal says Ashe, “I was walking to school with my daughter, who was in third grade at the time, and we started talking about her homework. She said there was a word list that she was supposed to review and it occurred to me that we needed a way to help her build her vocabulary. So I told her she should learn a new word every day and that I would get her a word of the day calendar. Later in the day I started searching for a word of the day calendar specifically for third graders so that the words would be age appropriate. I couldn’t find the kind of calendar I was looking for so I decide to make one of my own. It seemed like I couldn’t be the only parent who would like to have something like this for their child. So I decide to make calendars for each grade level so that we could have one for each of the grades coming up and so that other parents could benefit from this effort as well. The Kindergarten/1st grade calendar is the first of many more to come!”
More calendars are on the horizon. As mentioned above, in addition to vocabulary calendars for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade, there are also plans for math and science calendars and maybe even calendars with dinosaur and cat facts. There are number of possibilities for future products and they are all on the table. In addition to new products there are also plans to expand on the information contained in the website, with sections on relevant research as well as testimonials from teachers, parents and educators.
Learning Calendars will include an element of giving back to the community by having a monthly giveaway of a calendar to a child who has been nominated to receive one. Anyone can access the website and nominate a deserving child by saying who should get a free calendar and why. Every month a child will be chosen to receive a free calendar. Every kid should have a chance to be recognized and get a Learning Calendar and this is a great way to acknowledge a child who can benefit from the kind of vocabulary boost that comes with using a Learning Calendar.
The launch of this product is perfectly timed as this is a great gift idea and should easily be on everyone’s holiday gift giving list.
