3 White Flint North Office Complex Receives LEED Gold Certification
Washington, DC (PRWEB) August 26, 2013 -- Turner Construction Company is proud to announce that the new 3 White Flint North office building in Bethesda, MD has received formal LEED Gold Certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
This 362,000 SF office building, developed by LCOR in a joint venture with USAA Real Estate Company and designed by HOK, is located adjacent to the White Flint Metro Station to promote use of public transportation to access the facility, as well as tie the building to the 32-acre, 2.7 million SF North Bethesda Center project, an award-winning transit-oriented development project that will revitalize the neighborhood.
The facility was designed and constructed with sustainability in mind, including the recycling or reuse of 89.4% of all construction waste, inclusion of 21% of recycled material within the building’s features and finishes, and the use of 76% of Forest Stewardship Council certified wood.
The facility also utilizes low-flow urinals, toilets, and faucets throughout the facility, culminating in a 40% reduction of water use over a standard office building. The facility was also furnished with low VOC carpets and paint and utilizes motion-controlled lights throughout the facility, ensuring that power is not wasted overnight.
Turner is committed to green building and sustainability. Since 2005, Turner has diverted more than one million tons of construction waste from landfills, and has been ranked #1 in ENR’s Top 100 Green Design Firms for 2012.
