4240 Architecture Marks Anniversary with Key Promotions
Denver, CO (PRWEB) September 25, 2013 -- As 4240 Architecture marks its 10-year anniversary, the firm today announced a number of key promotions aimed at positioning itself for continued success. Diversifying their portfolio throughout the economic downturn, 4240 now brings design and client service to the higher education and commercial office sectors, complimenting established hospitality, multifamily housing and mixed-use experience.
“Unlike the oak tree that cracks in a storm, we became the bamboo shoot,” said Principal Lou Bieker AIA, LEED AP, “…pliable but structurally sound.” With a client roster that now includes Colorado State University (CSU) and Hughes Development Corporation, 4240 has broadened its base to be responsive to evolving market conditions. “We find that kind of adaptability is essential in a changing world,” said Principal Tom Brauer AIA. 4240 has developed a resilient staff by promoting from within, encouraging growth through mentorship and collaboration. “It’s about building a culture and core around the talent we have in-house,” said Mr. Bieker.
To that end, Terra Krieger Mazzeo, LEED AP, has been named Design Director. Since 1998, Ms. Mazzeo has brought a robust design vision to many of 4240’s most prominent projects. That leadership, coupled with strategic thinking, promise to further her impact on both 4240 and the architecture community at large. “Terra has a quiet intensity,” said Founding Principal E. Randal Johnson AIA. “She channels her creativity smartly to give our clients and our cities inspired works.”
Christian Barlock has been named Senior Associate, returning to 4240 after working with Calatrava Architects on the new Westin hotel at Denver International Airport. “Christian balances pragmatics and poetry in his projects and through his design leadership,” said Mr. Bieker. As a Senior Project Designer, Mr. Barlock provides stewardship on a number of hospitality projects, eschewing flash in favor of substance. “I believe in human scale and proportion,” he said. “Buildings need to exist in relationship to people—not as independent art objects.”
Matt Cecere, LEED AP, has been named Senior Associate. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Cecere draws parallels between long-distance running and the design process. “I just finished the ‘Race Across the Sky’ 100-mile run in August,” he said. “When you look at a project like ONE Greenville, which was three years from concept to completion, it takes very much that same spirit—patience and resolution and technical skill—to succeed and to create something enduring.”
Marc Snyder, LEED AP, has been named Associate. Marc’s passion for sustainable design—and his inquisitive nature—were instrumental in shaping the Laurel Village Pavilion, slated to be CSU’s first LEED-Platinum facility. “In 4240’s academic work, as with all our projects, it’s important that the spaces we design engage the senses and evoke an emotional connection,” said Mr. Snyder. “So the buildings themselves become learning laboratories that are integral to the educational experience.”
Michele Decker has been named Associate. Ms. Decker has been integral in guiding 4240’s evolution, since 2008. An acute design sensibility, backed by an architectural education and passion for the built environment, augments her business-development efforts and marketing of the firm. “Michele has been quite effective in enlarging 4240’s cultural footprint through her community engagement, media outreach and branding sensibility,” said Mr. Bieker.
"The past 10 years have been a remarkable journey for 4240 and our clients,” said Mr. Johnson. “And with the contributions of Terra, Christian, Matt, Marc and Michele, we think the next 10 years are ripe with even greater possibility.”
