4485 Acres in Marion County Protected by Land South LLC

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) December 16, 2014 -- Ardavan Afrakhteh the president of Land South Tennessee, LLC has once again teamed up with local conservationists to protect 4,485 acres in Marion County, TN. Afrakhteh’s purchase of 7,400 acres known as the Little Sequatchie tract in 2012 paved the way to protect 4,485 acres of this historic and beautiful country.

“I walked the land a number of times, and kept finding the most interesting and beautiful sites,” said Afrakhteh. The natural amenities of the property make it prime real estate for developers. The winding river, waterfalls, stunning bluff views, Civil War graveyards, caves, and an abundance of rare plant life compelled Afrakhteh to change direction. He reached out to conservationists like those who helped him protect 1,200 acres that became the Cumberland Wilderness Retreat and Christian center in Grundy County.

In addition he became the steward of 3,200 acres in both Marion and Grundy counties called the Fiery Gizzard tract. This parcel is directly adjacent to Fiery Gizzard State Park. The parcel was previously placed in a conservation easement to buffer the park from encroaching development. Afrakhteh has purchased the land which will be used for recreational purposes in the years to come.

“We purchased the land, which was previously owned by a residential developer. Fate and stewardship availed to help maintain this land for the community,” said Afrakhteh. “Having previously helped protect Tennessee’s treasured landscape, and upon experiencing firsthand the awe inspiring beauty of the Little Sequatchie tract, it was clear that this is the right thing to do.”
