4 Don’ts In Establishing New Post-Divorce Routines [Tip Sheet]
(PRWEB) November 28, 2014 -- Online divorce service MyDivorcePapers.com (MDP) knows how important establishing new routines is to the recovery of a person grieving the loss of their marriage. Unfortunately, some of the newly divorced are so eager to “get over it” that they can make bad decisions to prolong their suffering. That’s why the company has put together a new tip sheet listing the four “don’ts” of establishing new post-divorce routines. Here’s what they recommend.
Tip One: Don’t Refuse To Keep A Schedule.
MDP urges the newly divorced not to stay too long in that “grief” stage. This can lead to malaise, substance abuse, premature relationships, or worse. “Keeping a schedule is one of the best things you could ever do for your post-divorce recovery,” a rep explains. “It keeps you focused and moving forward towards achievable and beneficial goals. Don’t neglect it.”
Tip Two: Don’t Live Without Purpose.
MDP alluded to it in tip one, but expands in tip two to say that you should set goals for yourself and refuse to give in to that directionless arrow mentality that so often plagues people after their divorce papers are final. “It can be hard to care about much when the person you cared about the most no longer wants to be with you, but no good can come from an unfocused post-divorce life,” the rep explains.
Tip Three: Don’t Rush Back Into The Dating Scene.
MDP knows it’s tempting to prove one’s worth on the dating scene after being rejected by a spouse, but they advise to hold off on getting back to the dating scene. “You can’t be any good at that until you’re good with yourself. Take the time to grieve and to get comfortable in your own skin again,” the rep explains. “Listen to what your body and mind are telling you about your identity.”
Tip Four: Don’t Avoid Emotions.
MDP acknowledges that men in particular tend to crawl up inside of themselves and avoid dealing with emotions after a divorce. They don’t wish to be “in that vulnerable place,” the rep says adding, “What’s really happening, however, is that they are stunting their emotional growth when they refuse to let their emotions evolve. If you need to have an outburst, then go somewhere safe and private and have an outburst. It’s okay to be human.”
