50 Original Artworks by Hajime Sorayama to Exhibit at Sin City Gallery, Las Vegas
Las Vegas, Nevada (PRWEB) January 14, 2016 -- Sin City Gallery presents a limited engagement exhibition of 50 original artworks by globally recognized artist Hajime Sorayama. Sought after by collectors worldwide and the subject of over 40 art books, Sorayama’s hyper-real mythological science fiction beauties are iconic and seductive. This is the only solo exhibition in America of such magnitude, and the gallery is delighted to share these works from a private collection, many of which will be on public view for the first time (30 will be available for sale, including the infamous Tsunami Girls series). On April 9, 50 works will be exhibited. During month of May, each week will reveal a curated set of 10 works at Sin City Gallery.
Dr. Laura Henkel, the director of Sin City Gallery, says of this unique show:
“Most people have only seen Hajime Sorayama’s work in magazines and books, and never before have so many original works been available to the public or to the savvy collector. Sorayama’s influence on pop culture is unparalleled. From the cover of Aerosmith’s Just Push Play to Sony Corporation’s robotic pet dog, AIBO, to George Lucas’ Star Wars, Sorayama’s genius is diverse and constantly surprising. This body of work is the postmodern legacy of Alberto Vargas’ early to mid twentieth century pin up girls. Sorayama’s imagination has taken hold of our collective consciousness.”
The Sorayama woman is a timelessly alluring paradigm. She is a glossy futuristic sexy robot woman, metallic armor over silken pastels and shimmering smoothly nubile skin, or darkly illuminated leather clad amazons, awash in nocturnal light. The Sorayama girl is a succulent combination of endless womanly curves, part warrior, part mechanical, and part goddess. However, it is more than just delectable sex appeal. Stylish and visually arresting, Sorayama’s work is culturally resonant and in a way almost literary, the images play out narratives of science fiction, mythical creatures, and the realm of futuristic fantasy, somewhere between utopia and dystopia. An online catalog is available on the gallery's website for perusal.
Do not miss this rare opportunity to experience the richly sensual imagination of one of the world’s best and most inventive contemporary graphic artists. This is pure sex appeal paired with technical virtuosity, simply beyond compare! Come get acquainted with Sorayama’s delightful futuristic goddesses, these sexy mythical creatures will amaze and transfix!
The Hajime Sorayama Art Catalog (2016) is available at Sin City Gallery's website.
