5th Annual UNCF "A MIND IS..." Hamptons Summer Benefit 2016
East Hampton, New York (PRWEB) July 25, 2016 -- The New York local office of UNCF announces its fifth annual “A Mind Is…” Hamptons Summer Benefit to help students in their quest for higher education. More than 300 UNCF supporters will gather August 6 and 7 for one of East Hampton’s premiere events. Dr. Michael L. Lomax, UNCF’s president and CEO, will be on hand to present the Keepers of the Flame award to Reginald Hudlin, president of Hudlin Entertainment; Cathy Hughes, founder and chairperson, Radio One; and Derek Jones, managing director, GMC Grosvenor Private Markets, for their extraordinary efforts in championing for education.
“Every summer, I look forward to returning to East Hampton with its rich African American history,” Lomax said. “It is importance as we work to secure better futures for us all that we pay homage to the keepers of the flame for education while passing the torch to the next generation of leaders.”
Karen Hunter, SiriusXM radio talk show host, will serve as mistress of ceremonies for the two-day event encouraging cultivation through conversation and celebration. Saturday, August 6, attendees can enjoy a VIP reception starting at 5 p.m. at the private residence of Nancy Silberkleit, co-CEO of Archie Comics. The electrifying program, includes an exclusive Resort 2017 fashion preview by designer Carlton Jones, silent auction and entertainment by Yotoco. The weekend events continue with a VIP brunch on Sunday, August 7, hosted by Bill and Dianne Plummer and Errol and Paula Taylor.
In its 72-year history, UNCF has raised more than $4.5 billion to support minority students’ quest for a better futures. The Hamptons Summer Benefit helps support this cause, raising more than $140,000 last year to help deserving New York students.
