6th Annual Push to Walk Golf Outing Raises $52K
Riverdale, NJ (PRWEB) September 30, 2013 -- Monday, September 23, 2013, Push to Walk held its 6th Annual Charity Golf Outing honoring Matt Victor at The Knoll West Country Club, Knoll & Greenbank Road, Parsippany, NJ. The outing proved to be the most successful to date, raising a little over $52,000. The day included lunch, golf, cocktail hour with open bar, dinner, auction, raffle, and prizes.
This year’s event was held at The Knoll West Country Club for the first time. The outing began with check in of 144 golfers, which is the maximum the course can accommodate and the largest turnout in the event’s 6 years. Golfers ate lunch prior to shot gun start and then enjoyed a beautiful day out on the course. Around 6:30PM foursomes and 30 additional dinner guests trickled into the grill room for cocktail hour followed by entrance into the banquet hall for the dinner and program portion of the evening.
Darren Templeton, son of Push to Walk founders, acted as the MC and did a phenomenal job of reminding the audience of the cause. Darren and George Gnad, golf committee chairperson, also presented a plaque to the outing’s honoree Matt Victor. Matt Victor, a longtime supporter and advocate for Push to Walk and its clients, followed with kind words about the organization.
The evening continued with a brief demonstration of the Gait Harness System Walker, which was purchased with funds from Raise Your Paddle during last year’s event. Guests watched as Michael Luciano, Push to Walk client, took steps using the GHS Walker. “It is important that we show our supporters the differences they have made for the organization and, more specifically, our clients, said Push to Walk Founder, Cynthia Templeton. After the demonstration supporters were asked to Raise Your Paddle for the MyoTrace 400. Raise Your Paddle accumulated to $6,400, enough to purchase the MyoTrace 400 with accessories. The MyoTrace 400 will allow trainers and clients to see how active clients’ muscles are.
Push to Walk is able to cover only about 65% of its operating costs through client fees, and relies on fundraising events to help make up the difference. “Our annual charity golf outing is our largest and most valuable event, raising us the funds to help cover operating costs, purchase new equipment, and create scholarship opportunities for clients in need,” explains Cynthia.
