802 SECURE RECEIVES $6M INVESTMENT FOR WIRELESS IOT DEFENSE
Los Angeles (PRWEB) April 25, 2017 -- 802 Secure, Inc was injected with a capital investment of up to $6M to further develop its two core products: AirShield (Internet of Things defense platform) and P25CleanRF (proactive 24x7 cybersecurity monitoring solution for First Responders). 802 Secure is a leader in the IoT wireless defense markets having developed a proactive defense-in-depth approach. Through its proprietary patent-pending technology, 802 Secure safely and non-intrusively scans an enterprise’s air space, giving security personnel comprehensive visibility into every RF-emitting device on premise. As a result, companies can accurately quantify risk and mitigate threats. The funding follows on the heels of 802 Secure being awarded Start Up of the Year (2015), Company of the Year (2016) and most recently CEO of the Year (2017).
Daylight Investors, LLC, based in Los Angeles, led the investment. “What the 802 team has accomplished is incredibly impressive. They are leading their markets, gaining an incredible customer base and solving for security and connectivity in a space that, at least thus far, has been given limited energy and investment. Together, we’ll be ramping up product development and deployment,” said Steven Shipp, Operating Partner of Daylight.
The problem with IoT, is the fragmentation of thousands of different operating systems and applications. Trying to continuously identify, qualify and assess risks is simply not possible with the tools that are commercially available today. This void in the market represents opportunity.
“I am delighted to have Daylight as part of the team helping us execute. We plan to spend 2/3 of the investment on further product development and engineering, improving operational efficiencies and fulfilling back-orders. IoT equals wireless and that’s meaningful within enterprise and government markets”, said Garry Drummond, Founder-CEO of 802 Secure.
802 Secure was most recently Grand Winner collecting 5 Info Security Product Guide awards for P25CleanRF with Garry being recognized as CEO of the Year, 2017.
“You are also dealing with multiple protocols across the RF spectrum creating a significantly larger attack surface. 802 Secure is using patent-pending network anomaly-based learning that assesses risk with ease of deployment and execution. In doing so we can assist in securing differently sized IoT and traditional wireless environments,” said Kurt Grutzmacher, Chief Scientist
